You may have seen media reports that the Court of Appeal has today (Friday 23 April) overturned the convictions of some former Postmasters and people who worked in Post Office branches who were prosecuted by Post Office.
Chief Executive Nick Read talks about the judgment and what we’re doing to change in his message to Postmasters, which you can see in full below.
We announced last year that we accepted that 39 of the appeals should not be opposed.
Today’s decisions make it crystal clear: the Post Office must change and change for good. We have made good progress and there is more to do, as Nick describes in his message above and also in this speech he gave to Post Office colleagues earlier this month.
Post Office is contacting other Postmasters with historical criminal convictions between 1999 and 2015 who may be affected, to notify them of the outcome of these appeals and provide information in respect of how they could also appeal.
