Welcoming customers with open arms

More customers are enjoying wider access to Post Office services thanks to new branches and longer opening hours.

Network Development Director Tom Moran opened a new branch in the Ryman store on Station Street, Burton-on-Trent this month. It’s open seven days a week and is our first Local branch in a Ryman store. Ryman already runs six Main branches and has won a string of prizes at our Retail Sales Awards in recent years.

Tom said: “We know how important Post Office services are to local residents and workers, so it’s great that this branch can now meet that demand. We’re looking at other opportunities across the country to open new branches in places we don’t currently serve.”

And Chief Executive Retail Kevin Gilliland headed to Willenhall in the West Midlands to open a relocated branch (see image right).

It’s open for longer and has five serving positions, plus a conversation area. We worked with postmaster Sudipe Lekhi to ensure accessibility for all customers including wheelchair users, with wide aisles and low-level counters.

Sudipe, who runs other branches in the Midlands too, said: “I am glad to welcome customers with open arms. I hope they are pleased with the new branch and continue to support us.”

Kevin added: “The changes made to Willenhall Post Office will protect Post Office services for customers and help ensure the branch is commercially viable into the future.”
