Dignity at Work: supporting colleagues at Post Office

It’s said that we spend 30% of our lives, and over 50% of our waking hours in work. With this in mind it’s vital that we spend our time at work feeling valued, fulfilled and engaged. This means doing work we find rewarding, having a working environment that feels welcoming and having a good relationship with our co-workers. However, this isn’t always the reality for many people across the UK. In fact, 29% of the working population have said that they have at some point in their career been bullied or harassed at work. This is a huge issue nationally and something Paula mentioned in her blog last month.

We asked John Whitefoot, Employee Relations and Policy Director, to share what his team have been working on to ensure that we provide support to those experiencing bulling or harassment at work. Here’s what he said…

Nobody should ever feel bullied or harassed at work and we are committed to ensuring all of our people feel respected and valued in the workplace. We urge anyone who is experiencing harassment, or anyone who has any concerns around this, to talk to their manager, their GE member or to contact our anonymous ‘Speak Out’ phone line on 08000 484 531.
